What D&D Alignment Are You? (Monday, January 1, 2007 - 11:20:46 AM)
[Post a Comment]

Your Character’s Alignment

Based on your answers to the quiz, your character’s most likely alignment is Neutral Good.

Neutral Good

A neutral good character does the best that a good person can do. He is devoted to helping others. He works with kings and magistrates but does not feel beholden to them. The common phrase for neutral good is "true good." Neutral good is the best alignment you can be because it means doing what is good without bias toward or against order.

Christmas Parties (Monday, December 18, 2006 - 7:58:51 PM) [View Comment or Post a Comment]

I've attended a couple of Christmas parties the last two weeks. The first one was the Central Arkansas Astronomical Society's yearly eat & greet on Saturday, the 9th. Unfortunately, Carolaina had a Christmas party for the Iris Society scheduled at the same time, so she wasn't able to go with me to this one. I didn't want to mention this here until it was official, but I was voted as the club's VP at the party! You can see my name on the site and everything! (Scroll down to the bottom of that page and look under the heading for "Officers & Board Members for 2007".) I look forward to continuing to help out in the club any way I can in the upcoming year. I also have a project in mind for the club, but I don't want to say anything about it yet. The past VP, John Reed, and his family hosted the party at his house. Afterwards, we climbed the hill behind his house to get a tour of his roll-off roof observatory.

The second one was the Aristotle Christmas party this past Friday night. Since we were told to "dress to impress", I wore my nearly-new suit. Since I always make the hour drive back home to pick up Carolaina for these events, I had no time to change clothes after work. I ironed my best shirt and tied my Aristotle tie the night before, then wore the suit to work that day. Luckily, I got the tie in an absolutely perfect Double Windsor knot on the second try! Carolaina even thought so! If you had watched my webcam on Friday, you would have seen me looking rather sharp. I saved a picture from my webcam that day, and you can see it to the left. Hopefully, I can post photos from the event soon so you can see better pictures of me and Carolaina all dressed up. Finally, for once in my life, I looked good.

excersizing anime (Sunday, December 3, 2006 - 6:58:40 PM) [View 2 Comments or Post a Comment]

I've managed to get myself started back on the treadmill again. The weekend before this one, Carolaina let me buy the 3rd disc of FullMetal Alchemist episodes. I had gotten concerned about my weight after eating a little more sweets than I should have over the holidays, but before Wednesday my weight dropped back down the 3 pounds or so I had gained. Even then, that minor scare was enough to encourage me to get back on the treadmill. As I walk, I'll watch an episode of an anime show to keep me occupied and to help me time my excersize.

Earlier today, Carolaina let me buy the 4th DVD for FullMetal Alchemist. This show didn't exactly have a light-hearted tone before, but with this set of episodes, the show has taken a deadly serious turn along with a change to the intro and exit themes. I'll be enjoying these episodes again each day this week while I walk on the treadmill. I am so looking forward to getting more DVDs of this series for Christmas, so please, no spoilers if you've seen all (or more) of the series than me.

It was nice to get away to Melbourne for Thanksgiving, but the timing of the holiday wasn't the best for us. Even though it's worked out great now, between bills and other things to take care of, things were mildly worrisome there for a bit. It was really nice to get to see some of Carolaina's (Dad's side) of the family--especially Judy and Carl Ray. We missed them during Pioneer Days this past spring. Hopefully Pam & Doug can get their troubles sorted soon so they visit again, too.

I've gotten a few new photos up over on Flickr. A couple of photos of a strange cloud formation yesterday around noon, and three photos from when we went to vote in the run-off election on November 28th.

we voted! (Tuesday, November 7, 2006 - 5:53:20 PM) [Post a Comment]

Carolaina and I got to the polls before I left for work this morning and we arrived right before they officially opened at 7:30. There was a short line in front of us, but it wasn't bad at all. I brought my little pocket camera just in case the electronic voting machines decided to give me trouble, but it went as smoothly as I could've wanted.

Here's Carolaina casting her votes:
Carolaina voting 11-7-2006
Behind her, a poll worker is helping out a nearly blind, deaf and absolutely ancient old man who is distracting Carolaina as she's trying to vote.

The angle of the shot is a little off because I was trying to not be obvious about taking any pictures and held the camera down and close to me.

I hope you got out and voted today, no matter who you voted for. I think the returns tonight should be very interesting.

why yes, I am a herd-following quiz monkey (Friday, November 3, 2006 - 5:39:26 AM) [Post a Comment]

You paid attention during 91% of high school!

85-100% You must be an autodidact, because American high schools don't get scores that high! Good show, old chap!

Do you deserve your high school diploma?

I probably could have scored even higher, but it's way too early for me since I'm still trying to recover from the time change.
