Busy day (Saturday, May 8, 2004 - 9:20:22 PM)

We've had a busy day today. Carolaina had given me a little bit of spending money, so first thing I did once we got going this morning was to get a Super Nintendo system I've been wanting from GameXChange. I had gotten Super Metroid last week, so I got to play that some tonight. Then, we went to Thackerland flea market and I found a bunch of uncommon to slightly rare Atari 2600 games. Oh, and GameXChange had a fresh supply of Atari games, too. And here I thought I had depleted the local market of Atari games.

We ended up spending 3+ hours there at Thackerland. She just had to look at everything. I was a good boy though, and stayed outwardly patient.

For supper, we went to Coltons. It's become our favorite place to eat. I don't care for the country music or atmosphere, but the food is consistently good.

When we got home, Carolaina fell asleep so I played more Super Metroid. :) Oh, and if I can force myself to get back into & finish the fan-translated version of Final Fantasy 5, I'll be able to play FF6 on the origional hardware! (I'm trying to play them all in release/numerical order.)

Still more... (Monday, May 3, 2004 - 12:11:40 PM) [Post a Comment]

We had a relaxing trip up to Melbourne this weekend. Pioneer Days wasn't as good this year--it rained and rained. Cold weather moved in by Saturday night, so nobody stayed around for the evening dance. Not a worry for me since I don't dance. Sunday, though, was as clear and good a day as you could ask for.

Once we got back, I drove over to our local GameXChange store. I traded in a game and found Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Cheesy Name! Don't get me wrong, I like the movie--just thought the name reminds me too much of those cheesy 50's sci-fi movies. I watched (and enjoyed) it last night. But, I think I enjoyed it more when I saw it in a theater in Memphis.

Too much Star Wars? (Friday, April 30, 2004 - 12:49:38 PM) [Post a Comment]

I am in real danger of becoming a Star Wars fanboy.

"Once you start down the path of the fanboy, forever will it dominate your destiny." -Yoda

Er... or something like that anyway. :)

If you've read my blog lately, you've known that I've been playing Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. It's an awesome game that's STILL making me lose sleep--it's that good. I've also started re-reading Timothy Zahn's Star Wars trilogy of books, starting with Heir to the Empire. If you haven't read this trilogy, get these books now! I've also been listening to my Star Wars soundtrack CD occasionally on my way to and from work. I'm even ripping mp3s of it as I type this.

Did you know that you can buy a "working" lightsaber? Check it out here: http://www.buystarwarsstuff.com/ They're fairly expensive, but I've got to have one. All in good time. I think I know what I'll be come Halloween... >:)

We got a call from Carolaina's dad this morning. It seems that Pioneer Days up in Melbourne is this weekend. Every year, Carolaina's side of the family gets together during this weekend event. I always enjoy the festival and getting to see some of Carolaina's relatives. It's always so peaceful and (relatively) quiet up there in Melbourne.

Back from Space Camp (Friday, April 23, 2004 - 12:34:33 PM) [Post a Comment]

Just a quick update: We are back from Space Camp. I kept a journal while there, check it out. I also show some of the photos we took while there on that page.

This past weekend, Carolaina and I picked up a GameBoy and a four games in preparation for our upcoming trip to Space Camp. We got it so one of her students would have something to do on the trip down there. A good thing about this (besides the obvious) is that Carolaina has gotten an interest in Tetris for the GameBoy. Maybe I can interest her in other games as well... ;)

As I mentioned, we're going with Carolaina's 6th grade class to Space Camp next week. I'm looking forward to the trip and hope we'll have a great time.
